This accolade marks the highest certification for a song in the country, underlining the track's immense popularity and commercial success.
The remix of "Peru," featuring British superstar Ed Sheeran, played a pivotal role in propelling the song to global acclaim.
The remix charted in over 20 countries, including a peak at No. 53 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 2 on the UK Official Singles Chart, and No. 28 in France.
The song's success is further highlighted by its impressive streaming numbers, amassing over 450 million streams on Spotify across both versions.
Additionally, "Peru" has earned a gold plaque in Denmark and has been certified 2X platinum in the UK. It is also one of the Afrobeats songs to receive an RIAA platinum plaque.
"Peru" is featured on Fireboy's third album, "Playboy," which massively contributed to his international fame. The song's success led to a BET nomination and a memorable performance at the 2022 edition of the awards.
