Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly considering a switch to boxing. The 43-year-old, who currently serves as an advisor at AC Milan, has been involved in secret discussions over FaceTime with Misfits Boxing, an organization renowned for its celebrity crossover bouts.
Ibrahimovic, known for his martial arts prowess and holding a black belt in taekwondo, has caught the attention of Mams Taylor, the head of Misfits Boxing. Taylor revealed, "I've tried to convince Zlatan, and he can fight. I'm good friends with his manager and we had a FaceTime, the three of us."
The potential move into the boxing ring follows similar speculation surrounding Wayne Rooney, another ex-Manchester United star. Rooney was previously linked to a boxing match before opting to take on a managerial role at Plymouth. Taylor hinted that conversations with both Ibrahimovic and Rooney have taken place, stating, "I think it's a matter of time. At some point, it will materialize."
This shows a growing trend of sports crossovers, particularly within the realm of celebrity and athlete boxing events. While details remain under wraps, Taylor mentioned that other former Premier League stars are also expressing interest in pursuing boxing careers. "There are some really big names and very credible footballers, ex-footballers who have expressed interest," he added.
