Protesters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, obstructed the convoy of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, demanding that he address their grievances.
This incident occurred on the third day of nationwide protests against hunger and economic hardship, which have been sweeping across Nigeria.
The demonstrators, who were part of the #EndBadGovernance movement, lined the streets of the state capital, chanting and waving leaves in a show of peaceful defiance.
As Governor Fubara's motorcade approached, the atmosphere grew charged with anticipation.
The protesters swarmed his vehicle, insisting non-violently that he come down to speak with them.
One protester, visibly frustrated, exclaimed, "We are tired of empty promises! Governor Fubara must hear us out and take immediate action."
Governor Fubara, who had previously addressed the protesters on the first day of the demonstrations, urging them to remain peaceful and law-abiding, found himself once again at the center of their demands.
He had assured them that their concerns would be communicated to the appropriate authorities, but this assurance seemed insufficient to quell the growing unrest.
Security operatives were present at the scene to maintain order and ensure the safety of both the protesters and the general public.
Despite the tension, the situation remained largely peaceful, a testament to the restraint exercised by both the demonstrators and the security forces.
