Armed terrorists launched a deadly assault on the Kungurki community in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
The attack, which occurred under the cover of darkness on December 1, 2024, resulted in the tragic death of an elderly man and the abduction of 13 residents, including a mother and her two-month-old baby.
Zagazola Makama, a renowned counterterrorism expert, reported the harrowing details of the attack via his X handle.
According to intelligence sources cited by Makama, the assailants stormed the village, firing sporadically to instill fear among the residents. "The attackers moved swiftly, rounding up their victims and retreating into the nearby forest.
It was a terrifying experience," recounted a resident who witnessed the chaos unfold. In addition to the abductions, the terrorists looted several shops, making off with food items, household supplies, and other valuables.
This brazen act of violence is part of a broader pattern of unrest in Zamfara State, which has recently seen clashes between Hisbah operatives and police officers, as well as threats of an indefinite strike by the Zamfara NLC over minimum wage disputes.
