The eldest son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Bello El-Rufai, has publicly refuted rumors concerning an alleged raid by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on his residence in Kaduna.
The rumors, which have been circulating widely, claimed that the EFCC discovered $800 million, N700 billion in cash, and N1 trillion worth of drugs at his home.
Bello El-Rufai addressed these allegations head-on, describing them as "false" and a calculated attempt to distract from his public service efforts.
He emphasized that he does not own a house in Kaduna, stating, "Our family home is in Unguwar Sarki." This statement aims to dispel any misconceptions about his property ownership in the region.
Bello further criticized the spread of such unfounded allegations, highlighting the dangers of fake news. He remarked, "The use of fake news to manipulate public perception and instigate discord is not only defamatory but an affront to the principles of justice and fairness."
His comments underscore the broader issue of misinformation's potential to damage reputations and the critical need for fact-checking before spreading information.
