Ekiti Chief Judge Adeyeye Passes Away

The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, has reportedly passed away.

This news comes as a significant blow to the Nigerian judiciary and the people of Ekiti State.

Justice Adeyeye's health had been in decline following a harrowing incident nearly a year ago when a section of the High Court building collapsed on him while he was in his office.

Despite being discharged from the hospital, he continued to struggle with health complications.

The Association of International Female Lawyers (FIDA) has extended their condolences to the family of Justice Adeyeye.

In their heartfelt message, they expressed, “With deep sorrow in our hearts and in total submission to the will of God, FIDA Ekiti consoles with the family of the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Hon Justice Oyewole Adeyeye on his call to glory. May He find rest with his maker.”

While official confirmation of his passing is still awaited, sources close to the situation have confirmed the unfortunate news. The delay in public announcement reflects the sensitivity surrounding the event and the impact it has on the community.

This tragic event occurs amidst other significant legal developments in Nigeria. Notably, the government has dropped treason charges against EndBadGovernance protesters, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing public protests.

Additionally, law enforcement has apprehended 130 individuals, including both Chinese nationals and Nigerians, for alleged cybercrime activities in the Federal Capital Territory.
