The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the recovery of over N248 billion in crime proceeds over the past year.
This impressive feat was disclosed by Wilson Uwajaren, the Director of Public Affairs for the EFCC, during a recent update on the agency's accomplishments.
Uwajaren highlighted that the recoveries also included £53,000 and €172,000, with an additional €5,000 returned to victims of crime in Spain.
"The commission is taking its rapid response a notch higher," Uwajaren stated, emphasizing the EFCC's commitment to reducing cybercrime and enhancing the integrity of Nigeria's financial system.
Moreover, the EFCC has secured more than 35 convictions related to the abuse of the Naira at social events, showcasing its proactive stance against economic malpractices.
To further strengthen its operations, the commission plans to establish new directorates in Ekiti, Katsina, and Anambra states.
