Edo State Government Declares Friday as Work-Free Day to Facilitate Voter Turnout for Upcoming Elections

Edo State Government has declared Friday a work-free day. This decision aims to allow workers ample time to travel to their respective voting areas ahead of the upcoming elections.

Governor Godwin Obaseki emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "We want to ensure that every eligible voter in Edo State has the opportunity to exercise their civic duty without the constraints of work obligations."

The announcement has been met with widespread approval from various sectors, including civil society organizations and the general public. A local resident, Mrs. Efe Omoregie, expressed her gratitude, saying, "This is a commendable step by the government. It shows they are committed to ensuring a high voter turnout."

The work-free day is expected to ease the logistical challenges many voters face, particularly those who need to travel long distances to reach their polling units. The government has urged all employers to comply with this directive to support the democratic process.

As the election day approaches, the Edo State Government continues to encourage all eligible voters to participate actively and responsibly in the electoral process.
