Edo Govt Reclaims 30 Vehicles From Ex-government Officials

The Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee, under the leadership of Chairman Kelly Okungbowa, has successfully recovered 30 government-owned vehicles from officials of the previous administration. This initiative was confirmed by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, in a statement released on November 28th, 2024.

The committee's efforts were hugely aided by whistleblowers, who provided crucial information leading to the recovery of these assets. Among the vehicles retrieved were "two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles," with one of the vehicles containing campaign posters and umbrellas. Additionally, another Hilux vehicle was recovered, contributing to the total count of 30 vehicles reclaimed since the operation began.

The committee had previously recovered three vehicles last Friday, including "one Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses." Notably, one of the buses contained bags of rice intended for palliative distribution to Edo residents. This signifies the committee's commitment to ensuring that all government assets are accounted for and returned to the state.

Chairman Okungbowa emphasized the importance of public cooperation, appealing for more information to aid their operations. He assured Edo residents that further recoveries would be made before the two-week deadline set for the committee to complete its mandate. The committee is prepared to travel nationwide to recover state-owned vehicles wherever they are found.
