Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has presented a proposed budget of N605.7 billion for the year 2025 to the State House of Assembly.
Dubbed the 'Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,' this financial plan is designed to align with both the governor's five-point agenda and the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda.
Governor Okpebholo, while addressing the assembly, emphasized that the budget aims to bolster key sectors such as security, infrastructural development, healthcare, food sufficiency, and education.
"This budget is a testament to our commitment to achieving sustainable growth and improving the quality of life for all Edo citizens," he stated.
The proposed budget marks a 25% increase from the previous year's allocation, reflecting the administration's dedication to scaling up its developmental efforts. Of the total budget, N223 billion, or 37%, is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while a substantial N381 billion, representing 63%, is allocated for capital projects.
This distribution shows the government's focus on long-term investments in infrastructure and public services.
A detailed sectoral breakdown reveals significant allocations, including N162 billion for road development, N48 billion for education, N63.9 billion for health, N1.8 billion for a health insurance scheme, and N4.5 billion for the agricultural sub-sector.
These investments are expected to drive economic progress and enhance service delivery across the state.
Governor Okpebholo highlighted that the budget was crafted through extensive consultations, ensuring it reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.
"Our approach is rooted in accountability and transparency, aiming to deliver responsive governance to the people of Edo State," he added.
