Edo Election: Police Commissioner Denies Alleged Ties with FCT Minister

Edo Police Commissioner, Nnemi Iwo, has dismissed as baseless allegations linking his posting in the state to the influence of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.


In a statement issued in Benin on Monday, the command's Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, described the allegations as "baseless" and "harmful." Ivo said his referral was a routine administrative procedure in the police.


"It is ridiculous to suggest that the referral was influenced by the FCT Minister. I have no personal or professional connection with him.

I cannot judge the outcome of the election because senior officials including the DIG, AIG, CP and other senior officials are deployed to oversee the conduct of the election in Edo.” "Furthermore, the innovations adopted by INEC do not give the police any power or privilege to influence the outcome of the election.
