The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the uploading of polling unit results to the IReV portal.
This move aims to ensure transparency and real-time access to election outcomes for all stakeholders.
The election day was marked by a significant turnout of voters despite initial setbacks caused by heavy rain and the late arrival of INEC officials and materials in several parts of the South-South state.
However, voting proceeded as scheduled in other areas, including Ward 10, Polling Unit 1, Etsako West Local Government Area, where Senator Adams Oshiomhole cast his vote.
Senator Oshiomhole, representing Edo North in the National Assembly, secured a landslide victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who garnered 403 votes at Oshiomhole's polling unit.
In stark contrast, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received just one vote, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party recorded zero votes.
Oshiomhole attributed the high voter turnout to the APC's strong governance record, dismissing allegations of vote-buying. "It is laughable when I hear this kind of allegation. You all have been monitoring the process, have you seen where they are sharing money?" he told newsmen. "People turned out in large numbers to vote for us because they want good government."
