Nigeria's Department of State Services (DSS) has threatened legal action against Khalid Aminu, an engineer and participant in the August #EndBadGovernance protests.
Aminu, who was arrested during the protests, appeared on Channels TV where he alleged that he was subjected to severe torture while in DSS custody.
He described his ordeal, stating, "What I went through, what we went through was inhuman... they started beating me, I was flat down and they were blasting me with all forms of sticks, armoured cables, everything you can think of."
The DSS, however, has refuted these claims. Through their lawyer, Mohammed Sani Ndanusa, SAN, the agency accused Aminu of making false allegations intended to tarnish its reputation.
The DSS has demanded a retraction from Aminu, warning that failure to comply would result in legal proceedings. The lawyer stated, "Your above representation has caused our client a lot of embarrassment both within and outside Nigeria."
