Drake takes Legal Against Kendrick Lamar and His Record Label for Inflating His Rival Diss Track 'Not Like Us'

Canadian artist Drake has taken legal action against rapper Kendrick Lamar Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify.

The lawsuit, filed in the New York Supreme Court, accuses these entities of conspiring to artificially inflate interest in Lamar's diss track "Not Like Us," which targets Drake.

Drake, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, alleges that UMG employed a network of bots and engaged in pay-to-play schemes to manipulate streaming services and radio airplay in favor of Lamar's track.

According to the court filing, UMG allegedly paid Spotify to recommend "Not Like Us" to users searching for unrelated songs and artists.

Furthermore, it claims that Apple was influenced to have Siri misdirect users requesting Drake's music to instead play Lamar's song.

The legal complaint highlights violations of several laws, including the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), the NY Deceptive Business Act, and the NY False Advertising Act.

Drake's filing also suggests that UMG's actions were financially motivated, aiming to boost sales of Lamar's back catalog and increase UMG's revenues.

A spokesperson for UMG has denied these allegations, stating, "The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns."
