DHL Cargo Plane Crashes into House, Leaving One Dead and Three Injured [VIDEO]

DHL cargo plane operated by Swiftair crashed into a residential area during its final approach to Vilnius Airport on the morning of Nov. 25, near the Lithuanian capital.

The crash resulted in the death of one person and injuries to three others. According to local authorities, the aircraft was en route from Leipzig, Germany, when it went down near Zirniu Street, south of the city.

The Lithuanian airport authority identified the aircraft as a "DHL cargo plane flying from Leipzig, Germany, to Vilnius Airport."

Vilmantas Vitkauskas, head of the country’s National Crisis Management Center, reported, "One crew member was found without any signs of life, two were rescued, they were taken to hospital."

The crash site was quickly attended by city services and the Vilnius Airport Fire Service, who coordinated rescue efforts.

An airport spokesperson noted that "the city’s special services are working at the scene and leading the rescue efforts," which included evacuating twelve people from a nearby house.

Despite the severity of the incident, all scheduled flights from Vilnius Airport continued, albeit with some delays due to the ongoing rescue operations.
