Iconic former England captain and global football legend, David Beckham recently shared his thoughts on the best five players he ever had the privilege to play alongside during his illustrious career.

This revelation came as part of a discussion with his former teammate Rio Ferdinand, where Beckham was tasked with constructing a dream five-a-side team from the array of talent he encountered throughout his playing days.

Beckham's football journey is nothing short of remarkable. He burst onto the scene at Manchester United in 1992, making his debut at the tender age of 17. Under the tutelage of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, Beckham became an integral part of a dominant United side that clinched six Premier League titles.

His time at Old Trafford was marked by his exceptional crossing ability, free-kick prowess, and a knack for delivering crucial assists, which made him one of the most recognizable midfielders of his generation.

After a successful stint at Manchester United, Beckham moved to Real Madrid in 2003, joining the ranks of the Galácticos—a star-studded team that included some of the greatest names in football history. It was here that Beckham played alongside several of the players he would later name in his top five.

In his five-a-side selection, Beckham opted not to include a goalkeeper, instead focusing on outfield players who left a lasting impression on him. The first name on his list was Roberto Carlos, the Brazilian left-back renowned for his powerful shots and incredible pace. Beckham and Carlos shared the pitch at Real Madrid, where they formed a formidable partnership on the left flank.

Next, Beckham chose Paolo Maldini, the Italian defensive stalwart known for his elegance and composure. Beckham had the opportunity to play alongside Maldini during his loan spells at AC Milan. Maldini's leadership and defensive acumen were qualities that Beckham admired greatly, making him an easy choice for his dream team.

Moving into midfield, Beckham selected Zinedine Zidane, a player he described as "one of the greatest" he ever played with. Beckham's admiration for Zidane was evident as he recounted how fans would flock to the Bernabeu just to watch Zidane control the ball with unmatched grace and elegance. "He’s just cool, you know, without trying," Beckham remarked, highlighting Zidane's effortless style and technical brilliance.

For the striker position, Beckham chose Ronaldo Nazario, the Brazilian forward who dazzled fans with his electrifying pace and dribbling skills. Beckham fondly recalled a training session with Ronaldo that left him in awe of the Brazilian's talent. "I think when you watch Ronnie play back in the day, I mean, he’s electrifying on every level," Beckham said, reminiscing about Ronaldo's ability to mesmerize defenders and score goals with ease.

Completing Beckham's five-a-side team was Roy Keane, his former Manchester United teammate and captain. Keane's tenacity, leadership, and relentless drive to win were qualities that Beckham held in high regard. "He inspired us every single day because he came in with that mentality and we all knew that that’s what we have to cope with," Beckham explained, emphasizing Keane's influence on the team and his unwavering commitment to success.

Throughout his career, Beckham played for some of the world's most prestigious clubs, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain. His versatility and skill on the field earned him numerous accolades, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, a UEFA Champions League title, and league titles in Spain, France, and the United States.

Off the field, Beckham's fame extended beyond football, as he became a global icon known for his fashion sense, philanthropy, and high-profile personal life. Despite his celebrity status, Beckham remained grounded and focused on his passion for the game, earning the respect and admiration of fans and fellow players alike.
