A 20-year-old criminology student, Nasen Saadi, is on trial for the alleged murder of Amie Gray and the attempted murder of Leanne Miles.
The incident occurred on May 24, 2024, at Durley Chine Beach, Bournemouth, where Saadi reportedly attacked the women in a premeditated act of violence.
According to prosecutor Sarah Jones KC, Saadi spent a month meticulously planning the attack, driven by a desire to "know what it would be like to take life."
Evidence presented in Winchester Crown Court revealed Saadi's disturbing internet history, which included searches for "deadliest knife" and "machete," as well as inquiries about hotels without CCTV surveillance.
The court heard that Saadi, who denies the charges, had booked a room at a Travelodge in Bournemouth and watched the film.
During lectures at the University of Greenwich, Saadi reportedly asked questions about DNA analysis and forensic evidence, prompting his lecturer to jokingly ask, "You’re not planning a murder, are you?" Saadi did not respond.
On the night of the attack, Amie Gray and Leanne Miles were sitting by a fire on the beach when Saadi approached them stealthily. "With purpose, slowly, stealthily and quietly; when he thought no one would observe him, he hovered at the edges of the promenade, then stepped onto the sand," described Jones.
In a brutal assault, Saadi stabbed both women multiple times, leaving Amie dead at the scene and Leanne with severe injuries.
Leanne Miles recounted the harrowing experience to police, stating, "I ran to the top of the promenade, and I could hear Amie saying, 'get off me'... And he came back on to me, and he was continuously stabbing me, and I told him to stop."
