The Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja has sentenced Bamidele Folorunsho to ten years in prison for the indecent treatment and sexual assault of a minor.
The verdict was delivered by Justice Rahman Oshodi following a plea bargain agreement.
Folorunsho, initially charged with the defilement of a 12-year-old girl in February 2018, was re-arraigned on amended charges of indecent treatment and sexual assault.
The court heard that he had engaged in inappropriate conduct, including rubbing the victim's anus and fondling her breasts.
The prosecution, led by O. Aluko, informed the court that both parties had entered into a plea and sentence agreement, which was approved by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr. Babajide Martins.
"My Lord, the prosecution did not call any witnesses before Folorunsho accepted the plea bargain agreement," Aluko stated, emphasizing the voluntary nature of the convict's plea.
Justice Oshodi, upon accepting the plea bargain, remarked, "I have found you guilty based on your plea in the amended information dated December 11, 2024. I have carefully considered the plea bargain agreement and your show of remorse."
Consequently, Folorunsho was sentenced to ten years imprisonment, with the term commencing from March 22, 2018. Additionally, his name will be registered as a sex offender.
