Cote d'Ivoire To Host 2025 U-20 AFCON

Cote d'Ivoire has been announced as the new host for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON), replacing the initially planned host, South Africa.

This decision was confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) during their executive committee meeting held in Marrakech, Morocco.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in March 2025, and it promises to be a pivotal event for young football talents across the continent.

Among the teams vying for glory are Nigeria's own Flying Eagles, who are expected to make a strong showing. The semi-finalists of this prestigious competition will earn the opportunity to compete at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, adding an extra layer of excitement and stakes to the matches.

CAF's decision to relocate the tournament to Cote d'Ivoire underscores the country's growing influence in regional football.

"Cote d'Ivoire is ready to showcase its capabilities on the international stage," said a CAF spokesperson, highlighting the nation's preparedness to host such a significant event.

In addition to the sporting news, Cote d'Ivoire is currently making headlines for various other reasons. Notably, there is a push from a local coach supporting Lookman for the Men's Player of the Year award at the CAF Awards 2024.

Furthermore, diplomatic activities involving the Alliance of Sahel States have raised concerns in France, indicating Cote d'Ivoire's increasing role in international affairs.
