China Introduces 'Unstoppable' Real-Life RoboCop to Patrol Streets and Combat Crime at 21mph

China has introduced AI-powered spherical robots, dubbed "RoboCops," to patrol its streets. These advanced machines are designed to assist and potentially replace human officers in high-risk environments.

The RoboCops, developed by Chinese firm Logon Technology, are capable of reaching speeds up to 21mph, making them formidable tools in the pursuit of criminals.

According to reports, these robots are "unbreakable" and can operate both on land and water, withstanding impacts of up to four tonnes. They come equipped with an array of tools including net guns, tear gas sprayers, and loudspeakers, enhancing their ability to manage various law enforcement scenarios.

A promotional video showcases these spherical robots, known as RT-G "bobby balls," in action—chasing suspects, deploying net guns, and utilizing facial recognition software to identify and apprehend known offenders. This technology draws inspiration from the iconic 1987 sci-fi film *RoboCop*, where a cyborg officer combats crime in a dystopian future.

In addition to these spherical robots, China is also deploying police robo-dogs. Deep Robotics, the company behind these quadrupeds, claims they are "unstoppable" even in extreme weather conditions, thanks to their innovative design which includes wheels for enhanced mobility.

This initiative marks a significant advancement in the integration of AI and robotics within law enforcement, reflecting China's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for public safety. The deployment of such autonomous systems raises important discussions about the future of policing, particularly concerning ethics and privacy.
