Chelsea's Reece James Ruled Out of Action Until 2025 After Hamstring Injury

Chelsea captain Reece James is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to his latest hamstring injury, which has ruled him out for the remainder of 2024.

This setback is particularly disheartening as it affects the opposite leg from the one he had surgery on last year, which had already kept him out for four months.

Despite hopes that this injury might not be severe, Chelsea's head coach Enzo Maresca has expressed uncertainty about when the 24-year-old will return to action. Over the past two seasons, James has struggled with recurring injuries, missing a huge number of games.

James, who has made 162 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, having missed 129 games due to various issues.

His potential remains high, with a rating of 83 and a potential of 87, but his fitness has been inconsistent. The club is taking a cautious approach to his recovery, ensuring he is fully fit before returning to the pitch to avoid further setbacks.

The injury has also impacted his international career, as he missed the 2022 World Cup due to a knee injury and was not included in the Euro 2024 squad. Chelsea plans to support their captain through this challenging period, both physically and mentally, as he embarks on another recovery journey.
