Human rights activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has accused Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy of leveraging his influence to orchestrate the arrest of fellow musician Speed Darlington.
According to Adeyanju, who is representing Darlington in his legal battle, the arrest took place on November 25, shortly after Darlington returned to Nigeria.
Adeyanju claims that Burna Boy mobilized a significant force of Mobile Police Officers (MOPOL) to detain Darlington, raising serious concerns about the fairness of the legal process.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Adeyanju expressed his frustration, stating, "Why would Burna Boy, a global music icon known as 'Africa’s Giant,' target a lesser-known artist? It's an unnecessary show of power against someone he referred to as a 'small mosquito.'"
