A Kano State High Court announced that it will hear pending applications on November 20 in a high-profile case involving allegations of bribery and misappropriation against Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), and seven others.
The state government has brought forward an eight-count charge, accusing Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, and five other defendants of bribery, misappropriation, and the division of public funds amounting to billions of Naira.
During the court session, several defense counsels requested adjournments, citing unpreparedness and the lack of service of necessary legal documents.
Counsel to Ganduje and his wife, Mr. Offiong Offiong, SAN, stated, "My lord, we are not ready. We are asking for another date to move the application." Similarly, Mr. Taye Falola, representing the 3rd and 7th defendants, noted, "We humbly apply for another date for hearing."
Despite these requests, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu emphasized the importance of proper service of processes and overruled the plaintiff’s application, confirming the hearing date for all pending applications.
