Brazilian President Luis Lula Undergoes Successful Brain Surgery

Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, aged 79, has successfully undergone brain surgery to address a bleed linked to a fall at his home in October.

The procedure took place on Tuesday, December 10, at the Sirio Libanes hospital in Sao Paulo, following an MRI that detected an intracranial hemorrhage.

According to a medical note published by the government, "The surgery was a success, and President Lula is currently being monitored in the intensive care unit." The statement further assured that the president is "well" post-surgery.

The health scare began when President Lula experienced a headache, prompting an MRI in Brasilia. This led to his transfer to Sao Paulo for immediate surgical intervention.

The incident forced him to cancel a planned trip to Russia for the BRICS summit, as medical advice recommended avoiding long-haul flights temporarily.

Lula's condition had been stable since early November, despite the initial trauma from the fall, which required stitches.
