ASUU Laments Soaring Electricity Bills Threatening Nigerian Universities

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed grave concerns over the escalating electricity bills faced by Nigerian universities, which range from N200 million to N300 million monthly.

This financial burden is becoming increasingly unsustainable for many institutions, potentially leading to shutdowns if not addressed promptly.

A representative from ASUU stated, "The exorbitant electricity costs are crippling our universities' ability to function effectively. If this continues, we may see more institutions closing their doors."

The union is calling on the government to intervene and provide relief to ensure that educational activities can continue without disruption.
