Arteta Confirms Arsenal Double Injury Boost Ahead of Crystal Palace Match [Video]

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has delivered promising news regarding the fitness of several key players ahead of their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

This update comes as a relief to Arsenal fans who have been concerned about the team's injury woes in recent weeks. The Gunners are set to face Crystal Palace on Saturday, and Arteta's announcement provides a major boost to their preparations.

Arteta confirmed that Declan Rice, Riccardo Calafiori, and Oleksandr Zinchenko are likely to return to the matchday squad for the upcoming fixture. These players were absent during Arsenal's midweek Carabao Cup victory over Crystal Palace, where they secured a dramatic 3-2 win.

Rice, who had been dealing with a persistent issue, was substituted during last weekend's goalless draw against Everton. Arteta explained, "With Declan, I had to take him off because he was feeling something. He has been with a little niggle for the last week or so. He asked to be subbed in that moment, so we have to do it."

Riccardo Calafiori has been sidelined for over two weeks due to a muscle problem, while Oleksandr Zinchenko has missed four matches after being absent from the 1-1 draw with Fulham earlier this month. However, Arteta expressed optimism about their availability, stating, "They are both available to be in the squad," referring to Rice and Calafiori. "Zinchenko probably available as well."

Despite these positive updates, Arsenal will still be without Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White, both of whom are dealing with knee injuries. Tomiyasu has been battling a knee issue throughout the season, and Arteta confirmed that he remains unavailable. Ben White is also a long-term absentee due to his knee surgery.

In addition to the returning players, Arsenal will welcome backup goalkeeper Neto back to the squad. Neto, who is on loan from Bournemouth, was cup-tied for the midweek clash with Crystal Palace but is now eligible to play.

Arsenal currently finds themselves six points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have played one game fewer than the Gunners. Arteta's side has also slipped four points behind Chelsea, but both gaps can potentially be closed as Liverpool and Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, respectively, on Sunday.

The return of Rice, Calafiori, and Zinchenko is expected to bolster Arsenal's chances in their upcoming fixtures. Rice, in particular, has been a crucial figure in Arsenal's midfield, and his presence will be vital as they aim to close the gap at the top of the table. Calafiori and Zinchenko's return will provide additional options in defense and midfield, enhancing the team's overall depth.
