Arsenal Fan Fatally Shot in Uganda After Victory Over Manchester United

An Arsenal fan was fatally shot while celebrating the team's 2-0 victory over Manchester United.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Lukaya town, approximately 100 kilometers from Kampala, Uganda's capital.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old John Ssenyonga, was among a group of jubilant supporters gathered at a local restaurant to watch the Premier League match.

According to reports, the celebrations took a tragic turn when a security guard, allegedly frustrated by the noise, opened fire on the crowd after his warnings to quiet down were ignored.

A local journalist informed the BBC that the restaurant's manager had initially asked the guard to intervene due to the disturbance caused by the fans. "Witnesses told me that the owner switched off the power in the restaurant, which only angered the fans further," said Farish Magembe, a journalist covering the event.

"It was then that the guard allegedly opened fire, resulting in the death of Mr. Ssenyonga and injuring another fan." Following the shooting, both the security guard and the manager fled the scene.

The regional police spokesman, Twaha Kasirye, confirmed that a gun was recovered at the site and urged the public to assist in locating the suspects. "We condemn this senseless act of violence and appeal to anyone with information to come forward," Kasirye stated.

He also emphasized the importance of fans controlling their excitement to prevent such incidents.
