APC Denies Rumoured Rift Between Seyi Tinubu, Obasa Over Potential Governorship Bid

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, in a recent development concerning the 2027 Lagos governorship election has firmly denied any rift between Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Speculations had arisen suggesting that both individuals harbored ambitions for the governorship position, leading to widespread debate and controversy.

Seye Oladejo, the APC’s State Publicity Secretary, addressed these rumors in an interview with Daily Trust, attributing the unfolding drama to opposition parties attempting to create unnecessary controversy.

He stated, "The party has not spoken about the 2027 election. This is the time for impactful governance, not needless politicking to heat the polity." Oladejo emphasized that there is no clash between Seyi Tinubu, Obasa, or any other potential aspirants within the party.

Furthermore, Oladejo clarified that he could not recall any part of Obasa's speech that suggested a conflict with Seyi Tinubu or anyone else, dismissing the situation as an attempt by the opposition to stir sentiment.

The APC is currently focused on its forthcoming congress and local government elections in 2025, urging members to prioritize unity and progress.

Reacting to the allegations, Philip Aivoji, Chairman of the PDP in Lagos, denied his party's involvement in the alleged endorsements, stating, "Somebody has answered from APC that Lagos governorship is not a child’s play. What do you want me to say about it again? It’s not my party. People can insinuate anything." He further distanced himself from any accusations of orchestrating controversy against Lagos State.
