Anthony Joshua Suspended From Boxing

Anthony Joshua, the British professional boxer and former two-time heavyweight champion, has been suspended from boxing following a brutal knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois.

The suspension was issued by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) after Joshua was knocked out in the fifth round during their match at Wembley Stadium last Saturday.

This defeat marks the fourth loss in Joshua's career, with previous losses to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019 and Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

The 34-year-old Joshua, who was born on October 15, 1989, fell to the canvas three times before being decisively knocked out by Dubois' stiff right hand.

As a result, he has been handed a 28-day medical suspension, a standard practice for fighters who suffer a TKO or KO loss, according to the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports.

Despite this setback, Joshua remains defiant about his future in the sport. In a video posted on social media, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and expressed gratitude for the support he has received throughout his career.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has also suggested potential future bouts for Joshua, including a rematch with Dubois or a possible fight against Tyson Fury, depending on the outcomes of upcoming matches.

While some pundits, like Carl Froch, have questioned Joshua's desire and ability to continue in the sport, others believe he still has more to offer.

Joshua himself has reiterated that he is not ready to retire and is focused on making the right steps forward to improve and return to the ring stronger.

For now, Joshua will use this suspension period to recover and plan his next move.
