American Rapper Rich Homie Quan Dies from Accidental Drug Overdose

American rapper Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, tragically passed away at the age of 33 due to an accidental drug overdose.

The medical examiner's office in Georgia confirmed that the cause of death was a lethal combination of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine.

Quan, who was found unresponsive in his Atlanta home on September 5, 2024, showed no signs of trauma according to the Fulton County medical examiner's report. His brother initially thought Quan was asleep on the kitchen floor before moving him to the couch, noting it was "very unusual" to see food still in his mouth. Later that morning, a woman discovered that Quan's body was cold and he was not breathing, prompting a call to the police.

Rich Homie Quan rose to fame in the mid-2010s with hit singles like "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)" and "Type of Way." He collaborated with notable artists such as Jeezy, Meek Mill, and Young Thug, and was part of the Rich Gang rap collective. His debut studio album, "Rich as in Spirit," was released in 2018.

The news of his untimely death was reported by Linda Ikeji's Blog, a popular Nigerian platform known for its coverage of news, entertainment, and lifestyle.
