Akpata Denies Resignation Rumors, Vows to Stay in Edo Guber Race

The Labour Party (LP) candidate of Edo state,Olumide Akpata has firmly dismissed rumours suggesting his withdrawal from the race. These allegations, which went viral on social media, claimed that Akpata had stepped down in favor of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.

Addressing these rumors, Akpata described them as "falsehood" and "fraud," attributing their origin to those who have controlled the state for the past 25 years. He pointed out the amateurish nature of the forged document that purported his resignation, noting its incorrect date as evidence of its falsity. "The notion that I would step down on the eve of the election, after the overwhelming support received from the good people of our state, borders on delusion," Akpata stated.

He further emphasized his commitment to uncovering the individuals behind this misinformation and ensuring they face legal consequences. "To the architects of this forgery, I will not rest until I uncover every individual involved in this criminal act. You will face the full force of the law, and justice will be served," he declared.

Akpata urged the people of Edo State to disregard these rumors and remain steadfast in their support. "To our steadfast supporters and all citizens yearning for change, stand firm and do not be swayed by these desperate ploys. Our resolve is unshakeable, our cause is just, and our vision for our great State remains clear and unwavering," he affirmed.

As the election day approaches, Akpata called on the electorate to exercise their voting rights and contribute to ushering in transformative leadership for Edo State.
