The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has confidently dismissed the potential threat posed by a proposed alliance between opposition figures, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Anambra Governor Peter Obi, in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
APC National Publicity Director Bala Ibrahim asserted that the combined electoral support of Atiku and Obi would be insufficient to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
Ibrahim's remarks came in response to statements made by Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, who suggested that both Atiku and Obi had learned from past electoral experiences and were considering a coalition to challenge what he described as the APC's "incompetent and clueless" governance.
Ibe emphasized that their combined votes, which could have reached 12 million, should have been enough to prevent the hardships currently faced by Nigerians under the APC administration.
Despite these claims, Ibrahim remained unfazed, stating, "All over the world, you don’t add up the total votes in an election and hope to use it to topple the votes of the winner. A smart winner always capitalizes on that to create a crack within the opposition."
